John F. Blair
President and Portfolio Manager
John joined MCM in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a Vice President with the Private Wealth Management Group of Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. He joined Alex. Brown & Sons in 1995 after serving two years as an Investment Executive with Kidder, Peabody & Co. John holds a B.A. from Wake Forest University and an M.B.A. from Loyola University Maryland. He is also a Certified Financial Planner™. John currently serves on the College Board of Visitors at Wake Forest University and has served as a board member on several local charitable and social organizations.
Frederick A. Allner, III
Principal and Portfolio Manager
Fred joined MCM in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Vice President with the Private Wealth Management Group of Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown, where he had been for seventeen years. Fred received his B.A. from the Virginia Military Institute. Upon his graduation he completed one year of post-graduate studies at the University of Tübingen in Germany before entering the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant. Fred also attended the University of Baltimore M.B.A. program and the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has served as a board member on several charitable and social organizations in Baltimore.
Gregory G. Heard
Principal and Portfolio Manager
Greg joined MCM in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, Greg was the Chief Financial Officer for Sequoia Software Corporation. During his tenure with Sequoia he completed a successful IPO and subsequent sale to Citrix Systems for $185 million. Prior to Sequoia, Greg was a Managing Director at Corbyn Investment Management and an Investment Analyst for the Greenspring Fund. Before Corbyn he spent several years in the accounting and business consulting fields as a manager with the Financial Advisory Practice of Coopers & Lybrand and as an auditor with Price Waterhouse in New York. He holds a B.S. and an M.B.A from Lehigh University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Catalyst I.T. Services.
Jeffrey L. Caples, CFA
Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager
Jeff joined MCM in 2009. Prior to joining the firm, Jeff spent nine years at Legg Mason Trust where he was a key member of the team responsible for the unit's growth into a multi-billion dollar AUM firm. Upon leaving, Jeff was a Managing Director of Legg Mason Investment Counsel & Trust and Head of the Portfolio Management Team at its Baltimore headquarters. Prior to his experience at Legg Mason, Jeff was affiliated with both Brown Advisory and T. Rowe Price. Jeff is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a B.A. from Denison University and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the R. H. Smith Foundation at the University of Maryland and is the past President of the Denison University Alumni Club of Baltimore. Jeff is also an active member of the CFA Institute, and the Baltimore CFA Society, where he previously served on the Board of Directors.
Jim joined MCM in 2016 and has 25 years of investment experience. Before joining the firm he worked as a Senior Investment Counselor for PNC/Hawthorn. Prior to that he was a Managing Director at BlackRock Inc. He also spent 9 years at Legg Mason Investment Counsel as Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager where he oversaw approximately $750 million in assets. Jim is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds a B.S. in Finance and a B.A. in Economics from Towson University and his M.S.F from Loyola University of Maryland. Jim is also a member of the CFA Institute, and the Baltimore CFA Society, where he previously served on the Board of Directors and was a two term President.
Andrew T. Chudy
Andrew joined MCM in 2009. Prior to joining MCM, he worked as a Financial Modeling Analyst with Standard and Poor's in Bethesda, Maryland. His responsibilities include fundamental research and portfolio administration. He holds a B.B.A. in Finance from Loyola University Maryland and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business.
Nicholas N. Petrelli, CFP®
Nick joined MCM in 2009. Prior to joining MCM, he worked as a Research Analyst with Hardesty Capital Management. His responsibilities include fundamental research and portfolio administration. Nick is a Certified Financial Planner™. He holds a B.A. in Business, Organizations and Society from Franklin and Marshall College.
Brendan P. Sweeney
Brendan joined MCM in 2010. Prior to joining MCM, he worked as a Sales Operations Analyst with Sybase 365. His responsibilities include fundamental research and portfolio administration. He holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business.
Douglas R. McClean
Doug joined MCM in 2012. Prior to joining MCM, he worked as an Administrative Assistant at Brown Advisory. His responsibilities include data management, reporting, account services and portfolio administration. He holds a B.S. in Finance from Grove City College.
Compliance and Administration
Shandy joined MCM in 2010. She serves as the Chief Compliance Officer. In addition to her compliance duties, she oversees the daily accounting and financial operations of the firm. Prior to joining MCM, she worked in the tax department at Arthur Andersen and then spent 10 years as an accountant for Legg Mason. She holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Loyola University Maryland.
Dawn M. Lasek
Dawn joined MCM in 2007. Her responsibilities include supporting the firm's partners and portfolio management team. An experienced runner and triathlete, Dawn has completed multiple Ironman events and has participated in over 15 marathons, including the New York City Marathon in 2009.
